Equipment for the Automatization of Steam Boilers

For more than 80 years, IGEMA has designed and manufactured equipment for monitoring and control of steam boilers with design pressures of up to 320 bar for high temperatures and up to 640 bar for low temperatures. IGEMA is characterised by being the only manufacturer of mechanical and electronic equipment for the visualisation and control of levels in boilers and other steam systems. All of the products of IGEMA conform to the requirements of the new pressure equipment directive (PED) 97/23/EC, as well as the obligations of TRD 601 and 604 24/72 hours.

Control of boiler water output
IGEMA contempla 2 sistemas para el control de la salinidad del agua de caldera.

IGEMA has 2 systems for the control of salinity of the water in boilers; the first is a system that measures the conductivity in the interior of the boiler body composed of the EL22 probe and the FLB1 controller. The second is a system that measures the conductivity in the exterior of the boiler body, which permits its repair and adjustment without depressurising or emptying the boiler. This system is composed of the EL18 probe and the FAR1 controller.

Probes for measuring the conductivity with a range of 0 ? 10000 ?S/cm models: EL18 and EL22 (Category II according to PED 97/23/EC) module D1.

  • PN 40
  • 4-20mA output signal that is proportional to the liquid level.
  • Exchanged relay of potential contacts of a maximum of 250V AC and 5A for the regulation of the control valve.
  • Potentiometer for adjusting the range of conductivity.

Blow-down valves to blow down or to drain steam boilers

  • Manual valve KAV1 and automatic valve KAV2.
  • Sizes from DN 20 to DN 50.
  • PN40 / 63
  • Working pressure: 32 / 50 bar.
  • Maximum working temperature: 239ºC / 265ºC.
  • Can be equipped with a solenoid valve and timer for the control of the blow downs.

Control of contaminated condensates
According to the specifications of the TRD 604-72 hours, it is essential to have detection and control of condensates of outside materials like, greases, acids and salts that can put in danger the possibility of corrosion of the internal elements of the boiler.

The elements used in this system of control are:

  • Conductivity controller model: FAR1
  • A KFM 3 way valve for the recirculation of non-desirable condensates
